Plenty of rooms

This portion of the old kitchen, prior to 2005's dramatic remodeling, shows the handsome oak-paneled Kelvinator refrigerator, preserved in the new kitchen.
The industrial-size kitchen has just undergone a major renovation.  Long-time guests once worried that a kitchen modernization might clash with the feel and charm of the lodge.  Guests now admit that the remodeling has struck a perfect balance, maintaining the lodge’s ambiance while adding modern and stylish conveniences.

The new kitchen ceiling opens to the original roof rafters, exposing the windowed cupola that lets additional light in throughout the day.  The kitchen offers two stoves, two dishwashers, two refrigerators, trash compactor, ceiling fan, plenty of custom cabinetry, a microwave, a farm sink, a kitchen sink built into a large granite-top island with four tall stools, and a large eating table.  The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked with utensils, cookware and spices.  Off the kitchen is a new wood deck with a propane barbecue grill as well as a large storage and laundry room with coin-operated washer and dryer.

While most groups enjoy collective cooking, you may also hire a local chef for some or all meals.  (Caution: One problem with the kitchen – people enjoy lounging in it too long, when they should be outside frolicking.)

The Great Room features a claw-foot Victorian piano, enormous lake-view picture windows, a large round dining tables and other eating and card/game tables, wood stove and gas cast-iron stove, and double French doors that open onto the screened-in portion of the wraparound porch.  The porch will likely serve as your nightly spot for dessert and after-dinner drinks.  For a livelier evening, the den makes a great dance hall/party room.  Bring CDs and Ipods for the lodge's stereo system or hire live music for an evening.

The living room.

First-floor pool room with adjoining full bath.

Large living room with fireplace and comfortable furniture in two seating areas.

A first-floor bedroom with tall ceilings and French doors that open to the wraparound porch and lake.

Eight lovely bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs off an expansive hallway running the length of second floor.  One of the bedrooms has sliding glass doors leading to a roof deck with fantastic, sweeping lake views (an ideal spot for morning coffee).

A huge walk-in linen room well stocked with extra comforters, wool blankets and pillows.

Bedrooms: The lodge has quality bedding.  Overnight renters supply their own towels and linens.  We supply blankets, comforters and pillows. The five front bedrooms each have lovely lake views.  Of the front bedrooms, two have full-size beds, two have queen beds and one has a king-size bed.  The three back bedrooms face the tall pines.  One has t two twin beds.  The other two back bedrooms each have bunk twin beds along with a third twin bed.  A crib also resides in one of the back bedrooms.

Roofdeck off a second-floor bedroom shows only a portion of sweeping views.

Bathrooms:  The two upstairs bathrooms have large modern showers and deep antique claw-foot tubs. The first floor has two full-baths -- one serving the lone first-floor bedroom and the other off the pool room -- and a half bath off the living room.
