Batting Cage and Mini Golf in Waterville, Rte. 137
past I-95 for about two miles. As road curses to left, cage
is immediately on right.

Bowling Center (10-pin) and arcade. Pool tables.

Road in Waterville, off Rte. 137. Make a right turn onto road
as 137 bends to left at light. If you pass Gifford’s
batting cage/mini golf/ice cream.
Local
Scenic Drives and Destinations
- Blueberry
Hill, nice overlook of lakes. Out Jamaica Point Rd.
Take left onto Rte. 225 to end. Make right on Rte. 27. Take
left onto first road. Pass Rome Strawberry Patch on left and
proceed about 4-5 miles. Look for dirt road on left marked
by “Blueberry Hill” sign. Short drive to top.
- French’s
Mountain, a 20-minute hike brings you to wonderful
rock-ledge peaks overlooking lakes. Bring bottle of wine or
picnic lunch. About 1 mile after Strawberry Patch on left.
(Blueberry Hill is several mile up same road, so see directions
above). Entrance to French’s Mountain trail is across
from “A” frame house on right.
Nice
Maine day trips
- Antiquing
in Hallowell to Wiscassett to Ocean Point to Boothbay Harbor.
Ret. 27 South through Augusta. Take Rte. 201, passing
state capital on right. Quaint Hallowell
town is along Kennebec River. Slates Restaurant
is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Continue on to pretty
bayside town of Wiscassett for more antiquing.
Continue on, following signs for Ocean Point.
Park and walk along Ocean-weathered rocks and beautiful homes
and flowers. On return proceed to Boothbay Harbor,
the Key West of Maine, but nicer and less touristy. Have drinks
and dinner beside ocean at sunset. Whale and seal-watching
trips. Deep-sea fishing.
- Quaint
town of Belfast on Penobscott Bay.
One-and-one-half hour drive. Nicer and less touristy and less
crowded than Camden.
- Mohegan
Island: (2 1⁄2 hours) Charming artist colony,
forest walks, nice inns. Ferry leaves from Port Clyde or Boothbay
Harbor.
- L.L
Beans in Freeport. Slightly more than one hour. Take
I -95 to Freeport. Open 24 hours, 365 days per year. Combine
this trip with trek to Portland and charming Oldport waterfront
district.
